The meaning of the title in Western Torres Strait Islander language of Badu Island is Traditional law for who has the full authority for land. It is known as Garrka. He gives authority of who and how the land is used and shared, which also follows the Island law and its protocols. This woven mat also represents healing myself – weaving inside of my spirit and soul, to become a better and a stronger person, and also my ancestral guidance through my new life and journey. Two trial proof prints hand coloured with water and dry pigment, cut into strips, then woven to form a mat. Printed by Dr David Jones, Brisbane November 2018, from green vinyl using GC&I black relief ink.
