This painting represents collecting wild bush honey. In earlier times Tasmanian Aboriginal women in search of wild bush honey would catch a bee and tie a cobweb to its back leg. That way they could see the bee flying back to the hive and follow it. The women would gather around the beehive and use kelp carriers to collect the honey. The white lines represent the cobwebs streaming behind the bee, the orange and yellow represents the hives and the honey. This practice was also used by Aboriginal women in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
