Rachel has painted a bird’s eye view of her father’s country NW of Yuendumu in Warlpiri tribal country. The circular elements represent campsites. The connecting lines represent caves that are plentiful in that part of the country. The short grey/white angled lines represent trees. The remaining background colours show different types of bush country. Her use of multi-coloured dots is typical of her work – a technique that she learned from her friend & fellow artist Audrey Nartin Napanangka. This lends a 3-dimensional aspect to the work.
