Two water snakes (really men) were trying to pass through the Piuyl Mountains, near Warburton. They threw a magic boomerang that broke the mountain in two. They then travelled down the back way to Pukara (a large water soak). When they got there the son was sick and said “Only animals can drink at this water hole” but later the father allowed people to drink there too. They are still there today. In this painting Cliff is showing them travelling over a plain to the west of Warburton before they reach the Piuyl Mountains.
