Rachel painted this work in the IXL Atrium behind Art Mob’s gallery in Hobart early in 2007. She shows a bird’s eye view of her country north west of Yuendumu in Warlpiri country. The bush currant vine is seen growing across the country. The women (U shapes) travel out there to collect the fruits and she has painted their digging sticks (linear shapes) and coolamons (wooden bowls) are the oval shapes. The country is sand hill country that she shows with the parallel lines of varying colours depicting different types of country. Collecting bush tucker is an important women’s role and forms the basis of many ceremonies.
