MY MOTHERS GARDEN “SUMMER” the 4 paintings “Summer.Winter.Autum, Spring”, is about my mothers garden. Each year, My mother would plant specific plants for their colors Summer was always her love of Roses especially the old fashioned type roses. Even now today I still collect the rose petals and they remind me of my mother. Winter seen us collecting the blue and mauve petals from her blue garden Autum I loved the best for the many colours of the leaves, and especially the fun of running through a pile of Autum leaves and watching the beautiful orange, brown and yellow hues of the leaves as the leave would fall to the ground Spring we would collect the the new leaves of the gum trees their aroma would fill the house The gum leaves also were used for cleansing ceremonies by my people the Yorta Yorta people. Many of my wonderful memories of my mother is, when we would collect the Petals for their beautiful aroma, to put into bowls around the house. The various phases of the moon represent the planting times.
