This painting depicts the travels of the Ancestral Kangaroo Man from the artist’s grandfather’s country near Yuendumu in Warlpiri country to Uluru (Ayers Rock) way down south and back again. The central roundel is a camp site. The footprints of the kangaroo man and his tail mark are seen through the central axis of the painting. The long lines are songlines and the surrounding countryside is shown in Rachel’s hallmark manner with multi-coloured dots that give an unusual 3-D effect to the painting. She shows the sandhill country through the middle of the painting surrounded by bush country on either side.
