This painting is one of just two of it’s kind painted by the artist in 2020. It depicts Awelye. Awelye is the Anmatyerre word that describes body paint design. Women rub themselves down with emu oil and then paint each other up with broad lines of pigments – usually ochre (ground up rock). Once decorated and clad in a skirt, the women dance and sing in ceremony.
