Ulakalal means herds of dugongs. The leader of the pack with the feathers is called Tua-au Garrka. The feathers represent the great whistle he creates. He whistles to move the herd when they sense danger and also when they move to the next feeding ground.
The female dugong next to the leader is decorated with sand painting to indicate “peoy” which is the breath spray of the dugong.
