The story:
Badu Islanders believe in the ritual of appeasing the water spirits when planning a long journey by boat or when passing a deep water gravesite. By throwing overboard food, fresh water, cigarettes or things of value, we calm angry spirits from whipping up dangerous waves and stormy weather. This is how I imagined what a water spirit might look like.
