The print depicts the top view of the dugong. The lines represent where the cuts, Danagalau Pugai, were made when the dugong was butchered for eating. This is the traditional way of dissecting the body of the dugong that has been followed for centuries and is still employed today. Certain cuts went to different people depending on their status and importance in the community.
