Anmanari has painted Kuru Ala on the northern border of Spinifex country. Kuruala is a major site of the Minyma Tjuta (Seven Sisters) story as it travels northwest from Tjintilkara to Kulyuru. The Minyma Tjuta are hunting a kuniya (python) who will make a good feed, but really it is Wati Nyiru, a lustful old man who is hoping to grab one of the sisters for a wife. Wati Nyiru is a powerful ngangkari who is able to transform himself into other physical forms including in this story a python. Once the sisters catch the python they cook him up and begin to eat, but realise that it is Wati Nyiru and vomit him up. Kuruala is an extremely sacred women’s site. It is a rocky outcrop which glows a fire red in western setting sun. Red is a powerful colour, the colour of blood. Specific details for this Tjukurpa cannot be told publicly due to its secret nature and as it is a womens site some aspects of this story are for women only.
