Natalie Puantulura

This painting shows Jilamara (body painting design) which shows symbols painted on the men’s body during ceremony. The black cross shapes are painted on the men’s chest during ceremony when a man looses his brother. When Natalie’s dad loose their fathers they have this design painted on his chest. Her dad father’s clan is called ‘Kurrupuwu’. The circles shown represent the area called ‘Yapalinka’ where they are from and the ‘Kirilama’ (Jungle fowls) are their totem. The overlay above the ‘Yapalika’ represents the plantations in that area.
