Jimmy McKenzie

Jimmy McKenzie was born on Texas Downs Station near the Bungle Bungle Massif (Purnulu) in the East Kimberley. He grew up in the country, his early adult years were spent working the stock camps wit his mother Queenie Mckenzie. This work depicts the iconic beehive-shaped hills of Purnululu, deeply significant country for the traditional owners of the area. It has recently become a major tourist attraction for the many visitors who arrive each dry season to marvel at this unique landscape.
