Big bush onions. Bush onions are an important source of food for desert people. It is usually the women’s job to go and find and collect these onions. However, the men get interested in these as usually there are balls of red ochre nearby to where these onions grow – commonly along the side of a creek or other water source. This ochre is a valuable item and is used for body painting for ceremonies.
