In this painting Emma depicts a women’s ceremony in honour of Yalka (Bush Onion). The women perform this ceremony at Mt. Wedge, symbolised as the central circle. The women use body paint on their breast, chest and arm area in ceremonies. It is an essential part of their lives to perform these ceremonies as they believe that they are in keeping with what is created on their land. Emma represents the U shapes as women gathering bush onion. Collecting bushtucker is a traditional role performed by Aboriginal women.
