This ilma relates to the artist’s father when he returned to his homeland. As a spirit he could not climb the sand hills, and the ilma shows how he travelled through them to reach his destination. This area is of great significance to the artist¹s family. This ilma represents the passageway between life and death, or the spiritual world and this world. The sharp piece at the top shows where came out from the ground and climbed to the top and rested there. The circular pieces show soakwaters that are full of water now.
