It’s the bottom layer where the blackness from the rain happens. It’s so thick that you can’t see through it. This one 3 or 4, maybe 6 or 7 layers of clouds – one on top of the other. The rain can be so heavy it will swamp any dinghy or any small boat and it’s all gone.
