This ilma comprises 2 items both depicting similar themes. It’s the whirlpool at the top. Then it’s the wave that rolls from the tidal rip backwards. This is all when it’s very rough. Nothing comes out alive – it’s very dangerous. The larger piece is stood up in the sand and the smaller piece is held by the dancer. It tells the story of Roy’s father Henry Wiggan who told Roy’s eldest brother to go ahead in a dinghy in front of his boat in very rough sea conditions. Like a miracle the sea just went calm and the dinghy and its occupants were safe. Roy watched this happen from the cliff. Roy likens this miracle to the story of Moses and the parting of the Red Sea.
