This painting deicts a big yinta (permanent) waterhole called Wungun Kurlu. This waterhole is in the artist’s country where he walked around in the pujiman (bush) days. This painting was exhibited in the 20th Desert Mob exhibition at the Araluen Art Centre in Alice Springs in September 2010. The geography depicted is in the Little Sandy Desert region, home to Newcrest Mining’s Telfer Gold Mine. Perhaps Minyawe knew about the gold well before Newcrest!
