The Stolen generation (taking our children) control of our children. Intervention – what the government, doing around Central Australia. (Was back in the ’60’s). About health, housing, wellbeing of our children, education, drugs, alcohol and how this affected our people. “Our land is our Mother Earth”. Marilyn shows a mapping of the Northern Territory with Alice Springs featuring as the central roundel. Surrounding Alice Springs are the town camps where Aboriginal tribal groups are housed. These are marked with a red dot in the centre of each of those roundels. The other roundels represent outstations and communities across the Northern Territory. As part of John Howard’s intervention programme, the Army and Social Security were sent in to address the Prime Minister’s perceived problems. There is ongoing debate as to the efficacy of parts of this programme.
