A Nakamarra woman and her Napangardi cousin were sitting together at Winpri when they saw a man whith a white head band coming towards them. He was a tjapaltjarri man and the women knew that he wanted to marry both of them against their will. The women ran from Winpri through Kings Canyon area as far as Alice Springs then headed back towards Kamparrapa near Ilpili and Winpri. They sang as they travelled, and today the Nakamarra and napangardi women perform a women’s ceremony in which ancestral songs of the journey of those two women from Winpri are sung.
