This painting represents an area on the west coast of Tasmania between Preminghana down toTemma. The white rocks represents an area where the old fellas would go and hunt seal. They would make depressions in the rocky area and hide in these and wait for the seals to come up onto the rocks to sunbake. When they fell asleep they would sneek out of their seal hides and club the seals for food. The yellow shapes inside the white rocks are petroglyphs (rock carvings) which can be found in this area, it is unknown what the petroglyphs represent but they are a significant cultural link to our past. The mutton birds in the centre represent the rookeries found in the area. The hand stencils show the strong connection Aboriginal people still have with this place.
