This work depicts waterholes of the artist’s home country, Alkipi, north west of Papunya. A desert region, permanent water holes are necessary for survival and are protected. Permanent water holes are for drinking water only with other impermanent holes allowed for swimming. Also depicted in this painting are old women sitting around the water holes with their digging sticks.
