Akajiri is a popular bush food of the Solanum family sometimes called desert raisin. This painting depicts the plant and honours the women’s ceremony performed for Akajiri. They collect bush tomatoes in Alison’s country, near Papunya, Central Desert Australia. It is also where the women perform their ceremony in which they paint their breast, chest and forearms and decorate their bodies with feathers.
