Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa was born at Yumarra, north of Docker River, circa 1935. She is the wife of the late John John Bennett, who also painted for Papunya Tula Artists until his death in December 2002. Nyurapayia is currently living in the Kintore Community, although she sometimes travels south to visit relations in Tjukurla and Warakurna. This painting was exhibited by Martmili Artists at Desert Mob exhibition at Araluen Art Centre, Alice Springs in September 2008. Nyurapayia Napitjinpa was named among the Top 50 of Australia’s Most Collectable Artists in Australian Art Collector Issue 15 January March, 2001. Courtesy of Papunya Tula Artists. This painting depicts a story from Nyurapayia’s country near Tjukura. It is about a special womens’ place Tjukurrpa Tjukurla Minma.
