John Lee Tjakamarra

Bullun Bullun is the name of an important soakwater, or tjurrnu, shown in the centre of the painting. This is important country for the echidna story. The shapes along the edges of the canvas are the cliffs and rocky hills of the area, while the tracks of the echidna are shown in the centre of the painting. The echidna is being hunted by some ancestral people. This is John’s father’s country.
