William Sandy

This painting shows one of William’s ancestral dreamings. It depicts the two ancestral women who emerged out of the land in the Dreamtime when the land was void of features. They moved across the country creating the landscape and performing ceremonies. The two central roundels represent the two women. The two wavy lines on either side show their journeys across the country. The roundels at each outer side feature the sandhills and land formations of the desert country that William is from and that was created by these two Ancestral women. This painting was painted by the artist while in Melbourne early in 2008.
