Sikue was a sorcerer and healer from Buka, previously part of the Solomon Islands, now a part of Papunya New Guinea. He lived in a Suai village tribal area and was renowned as a very powerful being, capable of causing great fear among villagers because of the magic he could perform. The State I version of this print won the prestigious 2004 Angel Orensanz International Art Award in New York USA. The artist would like to acknowledge Mr Alex Dawia as storyteller for Sikue.
