William Sandy

William has painted an image of the country near Kaanpi, close to the SA & WA borders. This is his mother’s country – created by the Ancestral Emu Man and his two wives. The roundels indicate camp sites or dry water holes, the linear elements are the tracks of the Emu Man that we see as dried up creek beds or valleys. This painting comes from a time when William was strongly stimulated to paint and his flowing dot work at that time was amongst his finest.
