Marie Mudgedell Nakamarra

Marie has painted Yawulyu – an annual women’s ceremony and gathering which is a creation story from a long time ago. “It is a special women’s ceremony where many women come together from all different tribes and language groups to show their songs and dance. This ceremony is to keep women’s culture strong. ‘These days we gather at women’s festival, showing dance and songs. Women come and join in. Today women are strong and they look after culture”.
