Lady Robertson

This Jukurrpa comes from Purlpalala, north west of Yuendumu, a place sacred to Nungurrayi women and Jungurrayi men. It is a place for special ceremonies for the initiation of young men. This Jukurrpa travels a long way, to Kunajarrayi, Lady’s father’s country far to the west. The straight lines are witi, ceremonial poles made of red river gum foliage and attached to the shins and shoulders of initiates.
