Patrick says that “Fish Hole is the gartiya (whitefella) name for this place.” In Kija, this is a spring called Tapankul in Ngarrkurrun country. The country at the top of this painting is called Murayin. “That’s their village where the old people used to live.” The waterhole flows right down from this place to Cockatoo to come out at the Ord River in Texas Downs country. Patrick says “That’s Murayin on the top side.” He has painted the “gorge there with water in the wet season.”
