Wumali Joan Nagomara

This painting tells a story from Wumali’s childhood when she was out gathering bush onions with her sisters. Her eldest sister found an old, empty baked bean tin that had been left behind by drovers who had passed through the country. It was perfect for collecting the onions. Everybody else wanted the tin and they took it off her. The sister cried so much that eventually they gave her back the tin.
