The Kee # Kangaroo is a source of food the aboriginal people hunt and eat. Camp sites around the land show various spots where food is plentiful. The water hole has life in it which replenishes for further generations to eat. Foot prints show where the elders talk about dreamtime. Rodney painted this work in Risdon Prison, Hobart. It was exhibited in Art Mob’s 2005 Behind Bars exhibition in Aug/Sep 2005. His painting style was influenced strongly by a fellow prisoner Dusty Roads who in turn learned to paint from Jimmy Pike while in Fremantle Prison, Perth, WA in 1985. Jimmy Pike’s strong graphic design comes through in the following generations of artists.
