Danny Devine

I’m an Aboriginal young man at the age of 22 and have just started painting for the first time. I don’t know a lot about the Aboriginal art or culture, but at present am being tutored by another Aboriginal artist. I was born in Hobart, my father came from Smithton, Tasmania but never took the time to teach or tell me stories. I feel it’s important to keep the stories alive by painting and I’m sure with patience and time I will improve. This painting was exhibited in Behind Bars 2005 at Art Mob, Hobart, during Tasmanian Living Artists Week, August 2005.
