Cameron Ross Kemarre

It’s 1983, early November I just arrived at Amberlindum, a cattle station east of Alice Springs. It’s my mother’s land. I was 16 years old, 2 weeks away from my 17th birthday. The first day on arrival, me and my cousin rode horses on a long trip horse tailing about 20 horses from midday till about 9pm that night.
On the way I saw The White Kangaroo, whilst riding through a hilly little gap. I stopped for a short while, so fascinated and in awe. I couldn’t believe I was staring at a pure white roo. I was so excited. I was in the presence of a real Kadatja Man. Once I realized what was going on I galloped off to catch up to the herd.
I got real sick very quickly, boils in my kidneys, real sick in hospital, I healed thanks to (Ngarte) God.
Oh what an experience I had.
For years later he followed me everywhere, to Darwin, Tiwi Islands, Alice Springs, even Adelaide. I saw it all. Wow.
I’ve not seen him in a while now. Since then my spirituality has gone through the roof.
I wait for him to return one day.
