Audrey has painted her dreaming of the wild bush sweet potato. This vine grows over the country and the tubers grow into the ground. They are a staple part of the Walpiri tribal diet. The country that she shows is in her tribal homelands, north west of Yuendumu. This country is shown by the differing backgrounds representing the food sources particular to those areas. The sweet potato is shown in various stages of its development – from flower to fruit. This painting, as with most Aboriginal art, should be looked at as a bird’s eye view of the land.
