Mt Theo west north of Yuendumu. Audrey’s home country is the region that she has painted – Mount Theo outstation – which is north west of Yuendumu in Warlpiri country. The Warlpiri women are avid bush food gatherers and delight in going out into the country to get what’s offering at various times of the year. This is accompanied by singing and dancing to encourage an increase in yield for the next season. In this painting Audrey shows the wild bush coconut in the centre and wild bush tomato at the top and bottom. The vines are growing out over the country. The women can be seen as the U shapes with their coolamons (the oval shapes) for gathering the food and their digging sticks (the linear objects). Her use of multi-coloured dots gives the painting a wonderful 3D effect. This technique is only painted by a very few Warlpiri women artists – Audrey Martin Napanangka, Rachel Jurra Napaltjarri, Pansy Napangardi & Maudie Nelson Napanangka.
