Ancient Land
‘Aranda Country is ancient country. I am a descendant of these ancient people from this ancient land given to us from Ngarte the creator of all that is everything, God, The Boss. He gave me this gift to paint be an artist such a long time ago (lifetimes). I have such a close and most beautiful intimate connection with this ancient land, my ancestors, my people, my old man the rainbow serpent. He is an angel truly, he is knowledge and wisdom, he is very powerful, and so full of love for me and all our people. And he is very beautiful in every way, I love him with all my heart and soul, and thank Ngarte every day of my life for him my angel on earth. He lives underneath, where there is much water, and there is a lot of water everywhere under all of Yipirinya, waterways everywhere, a big reason my people will never allow mining anywhere in our country, trillions of dollars mean nothing, our ancient land is God given, it is so precious like our mum’s and dad’s grandparents, our children, all people of the whole earth, this is why the is crying now. But we won’t hurt our ancient land, never, Ngarte is so pleased and happy with us, from the Dreamtime till now till the end, and then the new beginning. The three tall pyramids in the middle of the painting represent Heavitree Gap, Emily Gap, and Jessie Gap, Alice Springs, Central Australia. Sacred to our clans, our people, to Ngarte; we must look after these places forever and ever, this is our home just like the whole earth is home for all humanity given to us from Ngarte (creator), don’t you see, it’s all we got, we cant all pack up and go and live on the moon, don’t be silly darling brothers and sisters, the old man always helps protect this ancient land. Along with my people, and that’s all people not just Aranda, all people, all skin colours, Ngarte says this, he’s the boss not us.
