Serena has depicted her grandmother’s country called Minyurrpa, on the Canning Stock Route in the Great Sandy Desert. The painting is centred around Minyurrpa, a rock hole and the lines represent in the painting are tali (sand hills). Serena’s grandmother would walk around this country collecting wangunyu (bush seeds). She ground the seeds on grinding stones to make damper (small circles with dots). The water hole (central circle) is called Minyurrpa.
