Queenie is telling the story of the Ultukunpa or Honey Grevillea flower which is a favourite bush tucker of the Anangu (people) Pitjantjatjara. Ultukunpa, also known by the name of Kaliny-kalinypa, comes into flower around November-December in the Central Desert and grows in the sandy soils on the plains. The flowers can be picked and placed in a billycan of water to create ‘honeywater’ or they can be sucked on for their sweet honey dew.
