Cameron Ross Kemarre

In 1983, 100kms east of Alice Springs, at a place called Amberlindum, just before Arltunga. My Mother’s people’s country. Truly magnificent country. November the second, [I remember it] just like yesterday.
I was horse taking with my cousin Graeme McDonald. He was way in front, me way behind. All the horses in the middle. Nine hours solid. Only getting off the horse once, and that’s where I saw him, The White Kangaroo.
Wow, I said to myself. Goosebumps the whole time. For almost 10 minutes I just fixed my eyes upon the marvel. A real albino kangaroo, and what’s really special he’s just standing there not blinking, not hopping away. It suddenly occurred to me that this was not a good situation, this so called White Kangaroo is actually not a kangaroo but a Kadatji Man. I went from excited to frightened in seconds flat. I ended up in hospital, both kidneys full of boils galore. While staring at him he sung me. Yes me, living proof. Unbelievable. Signed Cameron Ross.
