This painting represents a ceremony performed by Aboriginal people in honour of the importance and significance of bush foods to desert survival. The ceremonial site is called Kaanpi and is located in the north west corner of South Australia. The bush bean grows in the region of Kaanpi. The dotting is representative of the spinifex and sandhill country typical of the Kaanpi area and the black lines symbolise the bush bean.
