Our ancestors have practiced Ngangkere (the art of healing) since the beginning of our Dreamtime. This painting (Ngangkere Journey) is about men and women students at the beginning of their training. The learner/student start their imagining through sleep. They sleep/dream, their spirits leaving their bodies on their journey to learning. The spirit teachers will always make sure they are safe in the wider world. If the student’s journey ends in their not remembering what they have seen and learned on emerging back to country, they have to do it all again. The Ngangkere journey takes a very long time, learning lasts a lifetime.” -Zita Pengarte Wallace
