This painting depicts many aspects of the artist’s relationship to her country and traditional homelands and in particular the Bush Yam story. Belinda says there is always plenty of bush tucker and animals to hunt, though if you do not know the dreaming’s or ‘Tjukurpa’ you will not know where to find the water or food. An intimate knowledge of the land and its creation was essential to survival in a harsh unforgiving environment.
