‘Long ago in the Dreamtime, in the Altyerrenge, there were two young women who used to move them place to place in Southern Arrente lands. They were the spirits of the desert pea, a beautiful flower, with shiny, red petals and a big black centre. These women travelled here and there all over the lands and the plants grew and the flowers bloomed in their beauty, they did. This is in all areas, where rain fell and the flowers continue to this day, blooming, when the rain falls.’
