This painting depicts many aspects of the artist’s relationship to her country and traditional homelands. The designs show sacred Women’s ceremonies, rock holes and water sites as well as the desert sand dunes and flora and fauna. Janet says there is always plenty of bush tucker and animals to hunt, though if you do not know the dreaming’s or ‘Tjukurpa’ you will not know where to find the water or food. An intimate knowledge of the land and its creation was essential to survival in a harsh unforgiving environment. This painting includes yam leaf, bush orange, tomatoes, women, body paint, bush medicine, rock holes and water soaks.
