‘Back during the time of our ancestors, women collected seeds, many seeds. Seeds were ground into flour, and our people made them into damper, and fed the old people and children. These practices are not used much anymore as our people moved into settlements and towns, living on white man’s food. The women continued gathering and feeding families until the seeds ran out, especially during drought, and gathering became difficult.’
