Zita Wallace Long ago during droughts and when rain only came sparsely falling, but not reaching the lands our people went hungry, not being able to gather seeds to make damper and small flat breads, animals were scarce due to lack of water. During these times, spirit beings, women spirits started to dance, they danced with the winds that blew over the hills land plains, fathering seeds that lay about and dropped them onto the plains and valleys, dancing in circles making whirly winds which covered the lands. Dancing their feet pounding the earth. Then the rains came, the seeds started to grow into strong healthy grasses and plants. Food was abundant. Even today, you can see the winds dancing after rains or in the spring, winds blow scattering seeds and other plant varieties across the land bringing food in its beauty. Zita Wallace 2015
